How does a ropeless overspeed governor and electromechanical safety gears sound to you? Well, we’re going to the future.
Our new equipment has the capability to monitor acceleration as well as unintended movement and overspeed. This changes things enormously.
Detection + Response + Braking = Distance Travelled
Quicker detection and response means that the distance travelled is reduced dramatically. Plus has the additional benefit of the safety gears acting at their true rating. These features combined make for safer lifts.
The new speed sensor has been tested against other speed monitoring equipment and has generated very impressive results.
- Orange = Overspeed Governor
- Green = Atwell Sensor Pack (available as part of the bi-directional VG Rope Brake)
- Blue = New Speed Sensor from Atwell International
The graph shows just how quickly the new speed sensor can detect, respond and stop a lift car in an overspeed condition, taking just over 0.2 seconds to stop the lift car in approximately 100mm of travel.
So, what does that mean?
The Black line on this image represents the starting point. The Blue line represents the stopping position when using the new Speed Sensor. The Green line is the stopping distance when using the Atwell Sensor Pack, and the Orange line is the stopping distance from using an Overspeed Governor as a means for detecting that the lift is moving too quickly.
