AiO Speed Watcher

Atwell International’s new VG AiO Speed Watcher is a revolution in speed control and uncontrolled movement detection for the lift industry.

The electrical AiO system will constantly monitor the position and state of the electro-mechanical VG Safety Gear and will fail safe when any issues are detected.

The AiO Speed Watcher has been developed with the goal of eliminating mechanical reaction times associated with traditional lift safety products.  Often, a lift is still accelerating after activation of the OSG until deployment and engagement of the safety gears – the point at which braking starts.  By reducing the reaction time, we can reduce the activation speed. A reduced activation speed means the less distance a lift will fall, and the safety gear will operate closer to the designed activation speed.

The VG AiO Speed Watcher is a genuine game changer. It is the culmination of more than 25 years of experience in providing VG Safety Products™ to the lift industry.

Key features include:

• CE certified to EN81:20/50 by BSI.
• Replaces the traditional system of Overspeed Governor, Tension Weight and Rope.
• Eliminates the need for connection kits and bars when used with VG Safety Gears.
• Suitable for use on all guide rails, whether oiled or dry, from 9 to 19mm as standard.
• Offers full UCM and overspeed protection.
• Speed range of 0.05 to 7.5m/s.

VG8 Safety Gears

The VG8 safety gears have been designed to suit a ‘standard’ range of lifts, with a range of 2,789kg for a trip speed of up to 1.0m/s and 2,425kg for a trip speed up to 2.63m/s on either 9mm or 16mm Cold Drawn, Machined or Aluminium guide rails.

The VG8 is a compact safety gear and measures just 76mm in height and weighs only 7.3kg. They follow the same pattern as the rest of the VG safety gears, and can be installed for downward operation (TD8.3) or bi-directional operation with either having frames under and above the car (TD8.4) or duplexed together under the car (TD8.5).

VG7 Safety Gears

The VG7 safety gears are custom built for each application, and have been designed for low speed and high mass installations with a capacity of up to 12,000kg for a trip speed of 0.5m/s and 10,650kg for a trip speed of 1.5m/s.

VG7 safety gears can be combined to serve as a bi-directional safety gear, in-line with the rest of the VG range. Furthermore these safety gears can be combined as double or even triple units to brake higher loads accordingly.

The VG7 is factory set, and cannot be adjusted on site.

VG6 Safety Gears

The VG6 safety gears are suitable for general use with a high capacity of up to 5,800kg for a trip speed of 0.5m/s and 3,410kg for a trip speed of 4.0m/s. The VG range of safety gears can accommodate Cold Drawn, Machined and Aluminium guide rails with a blade width between 9 and 19mm as standard. The VG6 can also be supplied in an extended frame, which would suit guide rails of up to 32mm.

VG6 safety gears can be used for downward operation only (Application TD1.2), duplexed below the car (TD1.10.1), or fitted above and below the car (TD1.10.3, TD1.4.2) for bi-directional operation for standard installations, and can also be used on systems with four guide rails (TD1.8) with more options available.

VG5 Safety Gears

The VG5 safety gears are suitable for general use with a capacity of up to 2,545kg for a trip speed of 0.5m/s and 1,680kg for a trip speed of 4.0m/s. The VG range of safety gears can accommodate Cold Drawn, Machined and Aluminium guide rails with a blade width between 9 and 19mm as standard.

VG5 safety gears are unique in the VG range of safety gears, as they provide bi-directional protection (TD1.7.1) against overspeeding within a single frame. The VG5 safety gears can be used where pit depth is a concern, with a space saving of 127mm when compared to duplexed VG2a or VG6 units.

VG2a Safety Gears

The VG2a safety gears are suitable for general use with a capacity of up to 3,770kg for a trip speed of 0.5m/s and 2,150kg for a trip speed of 4.0m/s. The VG range of safety gears can accommodate Cold Drawn, Machined and Aluminium guide rails with a blade width between 9 and 19mm as standard. The VG2a can also be supplied in an extended frame, which would suit guide rails of up to 28.6mm.

VG2a safety gears can be used for downward operation only (Application TD1.2), duplexed below the car (TD1.10.1), or fitted above and below the car (TD1.10.3, TD1.4.2) for bi-directional operation for standard installations, and can also be used on systems with four guide rails (TD1.8) with more options available.

Gervall M290 Progressive Safety Gears
